Lectionary

A lectionary is a cycle of biblical readings that runs through the Church Year, beginning at the start of Advent.  The United Reformed Church uses the Revised Common Lectionary, which was developed in the 1980s and is now used throughout the world by many Christian denominations. 

The lectionary readings for November are as follows.  The primary reading for each Sunday is in bold and verses in brackets are optional extras to the main reading.

2 NOVEMBER

Habakkuk 1:1-4; 2:1-4 and Psalm 119:137-144; Isaiah 1:10-18 and Psalm 32:1-7; 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4, 11-12; Luke 19:1-10

9 NOVEMBER

Haggai 1:15b-2:9 and Psalm 145:1-5, 17-21 or Psalm 98Job 19:23-27a and Psalm 17:1-9; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17; Luke 20:27-38

16 NOVEMBER

Isaiah 65:17-25 and Isaiah 12:3; Malachi 4:1-2a and Psalm 98; 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13; Luke 21:5-19

23 NOVEMBER

Jeremiah 23:1-6 and Luke 1:68-79; Jeremiah 23:1-6 and Psalm 46; Colossians 1:11-20; Luke 23:33-43

30 NOVEMBER: First Sunday in Advent

Isaiah 2:1-5; Romans 13:(8-10) 11-14; Psalm 122; Matthew 21:1-11 or Matthew 24:36-44
