Lectionary

A lectionary is a cycle of biblical readings that runs through the Church Year, beginning at the start of Advent.  The United Reformed Church uses the Revised Common Lectionary, which was developed in the 1980s and is now used throughout the world by many Christian denominations. 

The lectionary readings for March are as follows.  The primary reading for each Sunday is in bold and verses in brackets are optional extras to the main reading.

1 MARCH: Second Sunday in Lent

Genesis 12:1-4a, Psalm 121, Romans 4:1-5,13-17, John 3:1-17 or Matthew 17:1-9

8 MARCH: Third Sunday in Lent

Exodus 17:1-7, Psalm 95, Romans 5:1-11, John 4:5-42

15 MARCH: Fourth Sunday in Lent

1 Samuel 16:1-13, Psalm 23, Ephesians 5:8-14, John 9:1-41

22 MARCH: Fifth Sunday in Lent

Ezekiel 37:1-14, Psalm 130, Romans 8:6-11, John 11:1-45

29 MARCH: Palm Sunday

Psalm 118:1-2,19-29, Matthew 21:1-11
