MESSAGE FROM OUR MINISTER

Dear Friends

The material we are exploring during Lent is ‘Wisdom in the Desert.’ 40 days in the Wilds
of faith with the Desert Fathers and Mothers. Week one we looked at re-igniting our passion
for Jesus, the desert as a place of prayerful pursuit. This week (beginning Tuesday 24 th ) we
will be exploring at intensifying our hunger for holiness, the desert as a place of spiritual
testing. In Lent we are invited to go on a journey and we do not go in to the wilderness to
find God rather we enter the wilderness because God has found us. We see God’s acts in
history and the reality of God’s love.

We go on a pilgrimage to draw us into the gospel story Jesus lived. Lent is a time to pause, to
prayer, to reflect, to trust God and to act. In our self-examination this season let us also
discover the call to Christian discipleship of looking outward in this season of Lent. For it is
in forming and deepening we see spiritual renewal. What can we give up in order to help and
enrich other people? However we journey through this season of Lent may we take this
journey with the understanding that hope comes with every small step and like Jesus may we
be driven by love.
