MESSAGE FROM OUR MINISTER DEBBIE
Dear Friends
As we continue our journey through Advent, and see all the Christmas
lights and bright decorations around us may we not become distracted
of the real importance of this season. May we point to the light that
continues to break into our world, Jesus Christ. Similarly, may we
follow the example of John the Baptist and point others towards the
light of Christ by living lives of justice, mercy and peace. In this time
of Advent it is important we reflect on and remember the true purpose
for which Christ was born among us, and make it our own. When we
fight for justice, solidarity, hope and peace, and above all love in our
context, we become true representatives of God’s kingdom. The light
of Jesus guides and brightens our journeys enabling people to see that
light in our lives so they may be guided and illuminated too.
We are encouraged to rejoice on this third Sunday of Advent no
matter the challenges or difficulties we face because we know that
God is faithful, we hope in God, we have reason to rejoice. Joy is
what happens within us. Our faith and God’s love move us to rejoice.
Our happiness rests in faith and unconditional trust that God is with
us. Have we prepared a place for Jesus Christ to be born again in our
lives? When we encounter God we have a truth to tell and we are not
to keep it to ourselves and when we have seen God’s light we have a
light to share. The four Advent candles represent hope, peace, joy,
love and symbolize the light of Jesus coming into the world.
As the third candle of Advent is lit this week, ‘The Candle of Joy,’
may our Advent God shine on us!
God bless love Debbie
