MESSAGE FROM OUR MINISTER DEBBIE
Dear Friends
On Tuesday the 6 th January we celebrate Epiphany (known in Eastern
Christian tradition as Theophany). This is a Christian feast day
commemorating the visit of the Magi. Epiphanhy refers to a sudden
realization of something and on Epiphany Sunday (4 th ) we celebrate
the manifestation of God in Jesus Christ. Epiphany or Three King’s
Day marks the end of the twelve days of Christmas for most people in
the United Kingdom and the final celebratory day of the Christian
holiday. This is also for many people the time when their Christmas
decorations are taken down. What a wonderful way to begin a new
year together by seeking and finding God in our journeys as we go
forward into a new year.
We are reminded at this special time that the beginning of another
calendar year is about more than resolutions, it is about revelation
especially God’s revelation to the world. Epiphany calls our
attention to the ways in which God breaks into our world. Our
Christmas decorations may be packed away till next year but God,
Emmanuel with us, Jesus, is alive and present in our lives and this is
worth celebrating all year round!
Happy New Year!
God bless love Debbie
